The Creative Process

One simple idea, lead to creating a limited edition of over 40 old tea caddies - dating from the Georgian period to the post war era.

I scavenged online auction sites for affordable and/or damaged caddies to buy. I wanted a variety that needed some TLC and that no-one else wanted, because a complete restoration would have exceeded the resale value. All my caddies have been sympathetically restored to make them durable and practical. The wood has been colourised to look like aged copper and the inside has been handlined with handpainted paper from The Croft Studio. Inspired by verdigris on copper and the lining of steamer trunks.

All caddies would have been made in small artisan workshops from 1714 until 1950.

Designed by craftsmen and cabinet makers, most would have been made on hand turned lathes.

Prices start from £30.

Produced during 2025.

Various sizes.
